World Environment Day, marked on 5 June, is a call to protect our environment and take urgent action to #BeatPlasticPollution.
Plastic, from production to waste, contributes to climate crisis and environmental degradation. It contaminates soil, blocks water sources, and harms ecosystems. These impacts are pushing people to move in search of safer, more sustainable living conditions.
In 2024, disasters triggered nearly 46 million new internal displacements. Without urgent action, climate and environmental risks will continue to force millions to move.
Tackling plastic pollution must be part of the solution. Migrants and diasporas are key actors in addressing environmental challenges. They bring vital skills, knowledge, and resources that support green solutions and build resilient communities.

. The environment is where we all meet; where we all have a mutual interest; it is the one thing all of us share.
. Until man duplicates a blade of grass, nature can laugh at his so-called scientific knowledge.
