
Google Unveils 2025 DeepMind AI Science Scholarships for Africa

In a significant development for education and innovation in Africa, Google has launched the 2025 DeepMind AI for Science Scholarships.
The fully funded initiative, in collaboration with the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS), is designed to empower African students to pursue postgraduate studies in artificial intelligence and related fields.

The program provides comprehensive support to scholars, with the backing of partner universities across the continent. Google DeepMind aims to nurture AI talent, tackle global challenges, and drive technological growth in Africa with plans to support 160 African scholars by 2027.
International Telecommunication Union, Others Work to Bridge AI Skills and Access Gap
The International Telecommunication Union, or ITU, has launched the AI Skills Coalition to address the global AI skills gap and expand access to artificial intelligence training worldwide. Reports reveal that over 25 organizations are founding contributors to this initiative, including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, the East Africa Community, and Cognizant.
The coalition was announced during the World Economic Forum in Davos and aligns with the United Nations Pact for the Future and Global Digital Compact, aiming to promote inclusive opportunities in the AI-driven world.
