In the rapidly evolving landscape of African technology, few names are generating much excitement of which Terra Industries is amongst. Founded in 2024 by 22-year-old Nathan Nwachuku and 24-year-old Maxwell Maduka, Terra Industries designs and deploys multi-domain defense systems that cover air, land, and eventually sea operations, and headquartered in Abuja, this innovative startup has quickly positioned itself at the forefront of advanced robotics and AI-driven security solutions on the continent.

In January 12 2026, Terra Industries made headlines by securing $11.75 million in seed funding, a round led by the venture capital powerhouse 8VC—an endorsement of both their vision and execution. The funding also saw participation from Valor Equity Partners, Lux Capital, SV Angel, and Nova Global, as well as African investors such as Tofino Capital, Kaleo Ventures, and DFS Lab. Terra previously raised an $800,000 pre-seed round and said investor interest grew after the company gained international attention following a CNN feature.

The company’s solutions are designed to address critical issues: border security, agricultural monitoring, infrastructure inspection, and disaster response. By building these systems locally, Terra Industries is reducing reliance on foreign imports, creating skilled jobs, and establishing Nigeria as a center for robotics and autonomous technology in Africa.

It is for these reasons that Terra Industries was featured in the “IDEA SMES AND INDUSTRIES OF INTEREST” bulletin series released last year by ideatelevision the Africas first innovation television station in africa dedicated to science, technology and innovation .

That project, which spotlighted Nigeria’s most promising SME’s and Industries companies, featured Terra Industries a company that blend local insight with world-class innovation. The IDEA SMES initiative continues to shape the narrative for tech-led growth in Africa. Terra Industries stands as a prime example of the vision and impact that the bulletin sought to promote.
