The Centre for Democracy and Human Rights (CDHR) has rejected the recent apology from Nigeria’s Power Minister, Mr. Adelabu, over the persistent power outages affecting the country. The organization has called for his immediate resignation, citing his failure to address the ongoing electricity crisis effectively.
Despite the minister’s apology, which acknowledged the challenges of technical faults and infrastructure issues, CDHR insists that the apology is insufficient given the widespread impact of the outages on Nigerians’ daily lives and the economy. The group argues that Minister Adelabu’s leadership has not brought meaningful improvements, and his continued tenure undermines efforts to restore reliable power supply.
CDHR urges the federal government to take decisive action by appointing a more capable leader who can implement sustainable solutions to Nigeria’s power problems and end the cycle of frequent blackouts.
The power outages continue to disrupt businesses, healthcare, and education, highlighting the urgent need for accountability and effective governance in the sector.
