The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has ordered the immediate deployment of over 850 troops to Plateau State as part of efforts to strengthen Operation Enduring Peace. This move aims to bolster security and restore stability in the region, which has faced persistent violence and unrest.
Operation Enduring Peace is a military initiative focused on combating insurgency, banditry, and communal clashes in Plateau and surrounding areas. The deployment of additional troops underscores the Nigerian Army’s commitment to protecting civilians and curbing insecurity.
Lieutenant General Shaibu emphasized the urgency of reinforcing the operation to ensure effective response to emerging threats and to support ongoing peacebuilding efforts.
