Russia has suffered another reported setback in its military campaign against Ukraine after Ukrainian air defence units intercepted at least seven Russian Kh-59 or Kh-69 guided air-launched cruise missiles and one Zircon hypersonic cruise missile.
The reported interceptions represent a significant challenge to Moscow’s efforts to penetrate Ukraine’s air defence network using advanced missile systems.
The Kh-59 and Kh-69 missiles are designed to strike targets from aircraft, while the Zircon is among Russia’s most advanced weapons, developed to travel at hypersonic speeds and evade conventional air defence systems.
The reported loss of the Zircon missile is particularly notable because Moscow has repeatedly promoted the weapon as a powerful addition to its military arsenal.
The interceptions highlight Ukraine’s continued efforts to strengthen its air defence capabilities against Russian missile attacks.
