FG LINKS ANTI-CORRUPTION REFORMS TO ECONOMIC STABILITY
The Federal Government says sustained economic stability depends on stronger anti-corruption systems, transparent governance and effective communication with citizens. Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said this on Thursday in Abuja at the Economic Confidential Lecture and National Spokespersons Awards.
Idris said the fight against corruption must go beyond arrests and prosecutions to reforms that prevent abuse within public institutions. He identified digitalising government processes, improving public financial management and procurement, and reducing discretionary bottlenecks as key measures for strengthening accountability.
The minister also stressed the need for clear and timely communication about government policies, particularly reforms that may cause short-term difficulties for citizens. He urged the media and other stakeholders to support accountability, counter misinformation and help build the public trust needed to sustain economic reforms.
