Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has held separate telephone conversations with his counterparts in Saudi Arabia and Qatar to discuss the latest regional developments and diplomatic efforts to end the ongoing US-Israeli war.

Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency reported that the discussions focused on the regional situation and possible ways to resolve the conflict.

Araghchi also spoke with Oman’s foreign minister, with both officials discussing efforts to restore full maritime traffic through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

The diplomatic engagements come amid growing concerns over the possibility of renewed military action against Iran.

According to The New York Times, unnamed Pentagon officials and military commanders said on Wednesday that thousands of US air and naval personnel, supported by more than a dozen warships and military bases across the Middle East and the United States, were positioned to resume major combat operations against Iran if ordered by President Donald Trump.

The newspaper had reported last month that any renewed strikes could be “short and intensive”, citing US officials and other individuals briefed on the discussions.

Potential targets were said to include Iran’s energy infrastructure, nuclear facilities, and its stockpile of missiles and drones.
