The military has launched a fresh offensive against terrorists and armed criminal networks operating across Nigeria’s North-West. Operation Clean Sweep Four, being conducted by the Joint Task Force North-West, combines ground and air operations to disrupt terrorist movements, logistics and hideouts.
Troops carried out clearance operations around suspected terrorist enclaves in Dutsinma, Katsina State, forcing the fighters to retreat into surrounding bushes. In Anka, Zamfara State, the Air Component also carried out precision strikes on terrorists reportedly moving on motorcycles, with the military saying scores were neutralised.
The operation is also targeting the Lakurawa terrorist network and seeking to prevent fighters from using border areas, the River Niger axis and Kainji Lake National Park as bases for attacks.
